How much does audiobook production cost?
Audiobook production is $390 per finished hour, meaning one hour of final audio, however this rate is flexible and depends on the needs of each project.
What is a “finished hour”?
A finished hour is one hour of completed audiobook audio, after retakes, edits and breaths have been cleaned up. It’s the standard way audiobooks are priced and the length that appears on the storefront.
How long does it take to record an audiobook?
As a general guide, it takes about 2 hours of studio time to produce one finished hour. A 5-hour audiobook usually needs around 10 hours in the studio, which most authors split across several sessions. Experienced narrators can be faster, and complex text or lots of retakes can take longer. This usually does not affect the overall price.
Can I narrate my own audiobook?
Yes. Marty is experienced with a wide range of talent, and can direct your sessions, with coaching pacing, pronunciation and performance, so the result sounds natural and consistent. If you would rather not narrate yourself, ask us about narrator options.
What direction and support will I get?
We can guide you through preparation, recording and delivery. That includes how to pace your reading and keeping a consistent tone across sessions. We usually limit a session to half a day, with longer sessions available if required.
Will my audiobook meet Audible, Spotify and other platform requirements?
Yes. Files are engineered and mastered to meet the technical requirements of ACX/Audible, Spotify and other major audiobook storefronts. Your finished files are delivered as MP3’s, with the WAV files available on request.

At our sound-isolated studio in Haymarket Creative, UTS, Building 5 Block B/5 Quay St, Haymarket, Sydney CBD. It’s close to Central Station and all associated public transport.
